God’s Word contains many Bible verses about new beginnings that offer insight, encouragement, strength, and support, as well as hope for the future.
Bible verses about new beginnings
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV
Life is full of new beginnings. The most radical one is becoming a new creation in Christ. Although we are all born sinners, God provided a way for us to be redeemed and set free from our sins through the atoning death of His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross. At Lake Forest Christian Counseling, we help you embrace this new life with faith and purpose.
When we repent of our sins and accept the gift of salvation that Jesus purchased for us by His shed blood, we are welcomed into the family of God and can look forward to spending eternity in His presence. Our past is erased for good; the slate is wiped clean, we no longer are who we once used to be, and we are given a new identity in Christ.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23, ESV
Every morning is a new beginning. Each day offers an opportunity for a fresh start. God’s mercy and compassion never fail, and He is always ready to forgive us and give us another chance when we come to Him with a repentant heart. There is no sin so great that He will not forgive.
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
– Isaiah 43:18-19, ESV
When you become a Christian, you can look forward to a new beginning in Christ. God is doing a new thing in you and will help you move forward. He will give you the strength you need to follow Him. Don’t get stuck in the past and let what happened yesterday hold you back. Keep your focus on the here and now and remind yourself that when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you become a new person and are no longer bound to past sins or mistakes.
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
– Ezekiel 36:26, ESV
God makes all things new through Christ. When we surrender our lives to Him, Jesus transforms our hearts and minds. He gives us a new nature and puts His Holy Spirit within us to guide us and help us lead life differently than we did before.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
– Romans 12:2, NIV
God wants us to turn away from worldly influences and become more like Christ. When we keep our focus on Him and His Word, our minds will be renewed, and we will be able to discern His will and understand what is good and acceptable in His sight so we can walk in His ways.
To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:22-24, ESV
Once we become followers of Jesus, our lives should reflect our new desires and attitudes and be different than the lives of unbelievers. We are to look to Jesus as our role model and align our behaviors and lifestyle with the principles in God’s Word.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” –Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV
God loves you and wants what’s best for you. Trust Him to lead you in the right direction and guide you safely through the path before you.
